I am curious if anyone here has installed an internal throttle kit on their bike, and if so, any tips on what to watch out for, or if you didn't like it because of unreliability or something else. These seem cool, and I am thinking that when I switch my bars out for a set of 07 1.25 Fatboy bars that I received today, it would be a good time to do this mod at the same time.
I've had plenty of bikes with internal throttles. Some were factory on my older bikes, and some have been aftermarket. I've never had any problems with any of them, but that's because I do what maintenance is needed. I don't know about the 1.25 inch bars because my aftermarket internal throttles are set up for 1 inch bars. Unless the maker has a model for the larger bars, or unless the larger bars have 1 inch ends, you'll have to sleeve them to fit.
one.....just as reliable as OEM
two..... got mine for 100 to 150 including cable
it looks super cool. hate seein cool bikes with internal wiring and 2 ugly cables hanging off the bars
had mine for 2 years, bout 6 to 8 thou. miles. no probs. and if a cable was gonna break prematurely, it would have happened to me
i dont know about a setup for big bars tho, i have standard bars.
any questions, pm me.
think its an under utilized mod
I hear you can't use them with internal wiring.... if you can then I feel for you getting the cables through the bars with the wiring in the bars also!!
I just wired my new 16" apes and getting the six wires on each side through the bars and the brake and clutch brackets on was a major pain in the butt! I wouldn't wanna have to get a cable through there too
You guys that have them, could you post some pics?
