I have an 07 and it's a good bike, but that is too much money. You can get one for $10,000 or less. Do some looking around on Craig's List and Ebay; check the completed listings on Ebay.
The superglide has the gauges on the handlebars. The superglide custom has the tank console and all the added chrome for about a 1,000 bucks more than the superglide. The rest of the dynas. low, bob etc i believe all have console insturments as well.
A super glide has always been a blank slate to me. You make it yours by customizing...It's part of the fun of ownership. Check out John Pancoast's ride it is a killer looking scoot. jmpancoast.
I recently traded my 07 1200R on a 09 Super Glide Custom. I am amazed at the difference in ride quality. It may even handle better than the Sporty. Definetly on the highway and equal or better at low speeds. I've owned many bikes dating back 35+ years and this is the best one by far!
My exerience with a Sportster is quite afew years old, so hard to compare. I really like the Dyna, front forls a little soft, but generally pretty nice.
I paid $9.900 15 months ago, about the same mileage..V&H Big Radius and Fuel pack, rear seat, some chrome. From a dealer.
Not sure what dealer you were looking at but quick search and danbury has quite a few dynas on there used list from 07 to 08 they may be ready to deal.

Yeah, thanks, that's the place. They wanted to sell me a new Street Bob (which I like, of course) but it's too rich for my blood. Told them I will go to 11k, and a 2007 or 2008 is fine with me.
They do have a lot of them, but so far they're not that cheap. I'll see what I can do. I like my Sporty fine, but I'd really like to invest in a Big Twin, and while I can get my full MSRP back on the Sporty I figure I'll do it, but not for more than 50% or so over the Sporty.
Gas guage on the tank, plus a triple tree mounted Speedo. Harley sells a tachometer which is a bolt on, at least on my 07, so you a tach/speedo combo next to each other.
