i have been trying to sell my 07 dyna for 10,200 with 2800 miles on it extra chrome and ready for two up riding but havent had any luck, its on here in the bikes for sale area.just to give you a comparable.
Yeah I ride my current bike every day (in season) commuting to work 25 miles each way. I mostly do 2-lane blacktops but occasionally need to do the interstate. Weekends I like riding at least 75 miles for a day ride, again mostly scenic roads. I like a smooth comfortable ride but not a bus; I like to be able to take curves at a good speed and pass cagers that annoy me.
Seriously shop around, if you have other dealers in your area. You should be able to get a 2008 for near that.
On the ride, compared to L models, the seat height is pretty close, but is just a bit wider than the Sportster's. Add about 100-120 pounds to the weight of the bike, but that really just smooths out road irregularities. You'll enjoy the six speed for highway cruising, but don't expect the Dyna to react as quickly in lower speed emergencies. I kept my Sporty, and I can tell you that around town or city driving, the word nimble will only apply to the Sportster.
However, the Dyna is an excellent all around bike (even though I don't push mine like I do the Sporty) and I've taken some really long trips that would've been pretty tough on an XL. Generally, anything under 200 miles, I take the Sportster, anything over that, or riding with groups that all have larger gas tanks, I take the Dyna.
You won't regret the Dyna, though. It's an excellent bike and incredibly versatile.
Great ride and great bikes with more power and comfort than a sporty.
Now not trying to say anything about your dealer but i think they want to much for that bike. If its just a plain jane superglide. The new 09 superglide msrp is $11,999 i think they could do you alot better on the price.
I thought the trade in had to be used to purchase a NEW big twin. We have been considering this offer also, trade in the wifes nightster for a dyna or a softail.
Well, i can't go private seller since I am doing the trade-in deal.
I agree the price is a bit high but with pre-owned no prep, freight, or security system which they hit you for on a new bike so new SG would be 13k with all that.
i have a 07 super glide and i love it! i can run the blue ridge mtns with a load of fun and leave the big bikes behind. you can improve the looks if needed with some money... i think the only bike better looking off the assembly line is the rocker.
