Hello ,I have a bad case of cabin fever and I want to do some mods on my street bob.
Going to order a 2" tank lift and put some fat apes or chubby's on my bike.
i was wondering with the tank lift what can i get away with on apes without buying new cables, is there enough slack to put 13 or 14" apes? I think the stock mini apes are 10"
on the street bob.
Has anyone done this? and yes I'am cheap and trying to avoid buying extended cables and wiring which can get expensive but since I'am not going with tall apes just a few inches.
I think there was one or two people in here that were able to put 14" apes on without changing but had to modify the brake cable a little by bending it where it attaches to bars. I got 16's so had to go the whole route with new everything. The tank lift should'nt have anything to do with it. Your gonna like the apes and they will look great on the SB.
what year bob... i have an 06, was able to go to a 14 in apes and 2.5 rise... tried the same thing on a 07 and an 08 and did not have enough cable, i re routed my cables like crazy to make it work.... but ont he 07 -08 there was simply not enough cable and i had to use new ones
do the tank lift yourself and you'll save quite a few bucks. Home Cheapo sells 1/8"x1" bar stock. drill 2 holes 2" on center and take a trip down the hardware isle to pick up mounting hardware. fet a 1 foot piece of 1/4 ID hose line and there you have it.... a lift kit for @ 15 bucks
