Best way to accomplish it? I'm afraid you might have to be more specific? There are two ways to get it done. Take the bike somewhere and have them disassemble the bike and powder coat parts, or take the bike apart yourself and send parts to powdercoater.. and the pipes? Well, you buy them and put em' on.. lol doesn't get any more self explanitory then that.

Forgot to add...

Or you can always take the parts off, strip the chrome/polish, and rattle can paint your parts. Cheap, easy, but time consuming. But, did I mention cheap?

Well, I painted my pipes flat black actually. I used Krylon heat heat BBQ paint. It worked like a charm. I stripped the chrome (sanded it out myself) then painted. Holds up very well, and I can retouch the paint as needed. I've used the same thing on a couple other parts on the bike as well.

I'm in the black-out process on my 07 street bob. I'm also pretty new to the game. I got a service manual (MUST HAVE). I carefully followed all directions and was very organized labeling parts (if required) and documented / took pictures for memory. I took off the wheels, front and rear turn signals, forks, triple trees, handle bars and strut covers. All that was pretty easy. The dealer then took the sliders off the forks, removed wheel bearings and tires (things I thought I might mess up). I removed the spokes. At $65 an hour, which I hear is cheap for some dealers, just removing spokes can take a half-hour. Then ship it off to the powdercoater. I recommend finding a powdercoater who will prep the parts for you. I saved tons of ca$h! pics to follow.
