Check and see if you might have lost the front balance weights on the rim. Also check the tire for a small egg shape on the tire.

Mine vibrates when switching to 5th at 45 to 50 mph, too. A sudden misaligned belt sound happens at the same time. 5th is definitely wierd on my bike. Maybe they will give it some attention at my 1st (1000) mile service.

What kinda makes me mad is that Harley sells you a bike and a bogus break-in plan to go with it. Plus, a proud new owner naturally wants to follow the correct break-in procedure. They say, "Don't go over 50mph for the first 50 to 100 miles, then don't go over Xmph and don't hold it at one speed for a long time." It's also in the owner's manual not to lug the motor or over rev it during break-in. How the hell are you supposed to hop on a new bike with NO TACH and with plenty of wind noise and know when to shift into your higher gears. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd are easy but the wind noise gears 4th, 5th, and 6th are impossible to discern on a new bike. I was lugging my motor bad on my maiden voyage home but didn't know it until I got used to the correct sounds and vibes over the next two weeks. Right now I stay in gear until the vibrations disappear and then start to come back due to high rpm, then I switch. Usually I don't bother with 6th until around 63mph, and 5th makes it's squealing noise at anything lower than about 53 mph.
