Default Primary Drain Plug

I had someone run into me from the rear at 80mph causing the bike to slide down the highway on the right side, this ground down the primary cover.
When I got the bike back they had changed the outer primary.
Changed the oil yesterday and noticed that there was a plug with an "O" ring on it instead of the pipe thread one. Is this a change by Harley or something the dealer did??? And if it is Harley does anyone know when they went from the pipe thread to the "O" ring plug??

I have the O-ring plug on my 05, I still use pipe tape on it to ensure it don't leak.

Thanks guys, my bike is a 02 FXDXT. I guess the "O" ring is the new and improved version. Mine leaks also.
papa: Broke right ankle only. All I heard was a loud bang and then saw my saddle bags pass me up. First thought. Damn this can't be good. Other bike hit me between the right saddle bag and fender. Broke the saddle bag loose and it swung around and crushed my ankle.

The drain plug on both of my Dynas are the pipe plug variety. sounds like you got a newer primary cover. Think the "o" ring showed up in 06 or late 05. By the way my primaries are on the left side of both motors. 02 FXD and 05 FXDLI.
