Well I took the light apart and found that there is a plug (3-wire) that goes to the headlight, colors of wires are green, white and blue, the black and brown go to the running light. I am just wondering which of the 3 on the headlight are ground.

At this point, just to find out which wire is ground, or more importantly, the 'common', just take a battery and run a wire from the negative to one wire on the plug (with the bulb plugged in). Then take the other wire and test the other two wires. If each filament comes on when testing each of the other wires, you have found the 'common'. If only one filament comes on, you haven't found the common yet.

By the way, I just "ohm'd" out my bulb, and none of the tabs connect with the large mounting flange around the bulb. The 'ground' is contained within the bulb itself. Now this is on the stock bulb, but I would imagine any replacement bulb would be the same.

Theoretically, the middle tab on your bulb, as you are looking at the back of the bulb, should be the common... with each of the side tabs being the filament leads. I would start there.

As for your running light, as long as neither of the wires connect with the shell, (such as the main light above) you can wire that bulb either way, doesn't matter.... the bulb doesn't care which way the current flows

Am I still helping?

After installing my new headlight tonight, the ground wire is the right tab as you are looking at the back (plug side) of the bulb.

Default Update

I got the light installed yesterday.
I took apart the stock light, removed the stock connecter and re-used it. It connected right to the new bulb and worked just like replace the stock bulb! i got the light from JPCycle. I did no wire splicing at all, just took apart the stock connector, removed the wires and connectors from the stock light housing, installed them into the new 7" housing and re-assymbled the connector and plugged it in.
i will have pics soon, waiting for 2 more parts (new tail light assym)

+1

My 7" will be here day after tomorrow and I'm debating on whether or not to PC it before I install it.
I finished the air shocks tonight after work and next week is bars, trees, fork lowers and the 21" front wheel.
