Priest,
The bracket was machined from a solid block of aluminum and then polished to a brilliant shine. I was able to use the stock wire harness (just had to split the sheathing a bit to allow more separation between the idiot light block and the speedo wires).
Unfortunately it's now raining again here in Washington State so road testing can not continue....... sucks
Hello, I also have a 08 super glide and am putting drag bars on it. I am having a hard time with the speedo. I only have a 4 1/2 inch riser is it possible to use your mount on it? What about the lights on the stock speedo mount? Are you going to be selling your mounts? Any advise would be helpful.
Thanks
I guess I just did not look good enough to see you had incorperated the idiot lights into your design. Very nice I am intrested in the cost of them when you start production. Also do you have the service manual for your superglide?
Thanks
Jerryvela,
I will freely share the CAD drawings with anyone who wants them, as long as they are for your own personal use. Just send me a PM.
I created the drawings using CadStd lite which is freeware so anyone can download the program and modify the drawings as required. The only critical dimension that I see is the distance between the risers so you would want to measure your bars and adjust as necessary. Let me know if you need any help doing this.
I will post photos of the finished product and let everyone know what it cost me once this project is done.
Rodger
Hi rodger:
Just installed 8" t-bars on my 2006 fxdi and have been looking
for mounting brackets just like yours, didnt know that they were not
in production yet and couldnt find them any where! i would luv to
find out how you did it!!!
Hi Mike,
Fortunately I met Loner (post#10) on the forum here and he was able to machine the speedo mount for me. I'm still amazed by his talent and craftsmanship. You might want to send him a PM.
looks GREAT!!!! i would be interested in knowing if this could be adapted for those who have the dual guages (tach and speedo). i have 2001 fxdxt with t bars and was going to use low rider tank but still leaves me with issue of how to mount the idiot lights. a bracket to hold those along the same lines as what you did would be helpful..
Whaler, welcome fellow PNW member!! Great design with a perfect answer to a difficult problem for some!!! Loner's stuff is just incredible! You may want to look into getting this thing Patented! You have something here. Either way, Thanks for sharing to everyone!!!!!
