I am a Dyna owner and am very interested in Part# 48646-06a upside down forks for Softails, in searching out this part I cannot find any reference to the "need" for new trees to accomodate the thicker portion of the forks-------the MOCO advert simplys states the bikes it fits.
Local dealer was not aware of the avail. of this item.
I would appreciate any tips or hints in regard to this installation.
Terry, some guessing being offered here so I don't know if this will help at all or not. May do good to post the same in the Softail section.
I would imagine you are looking at the need for new trees (custom millwork may be needed for the trees to fit the Dyna frame neck), the inverted forks you listed, new axle, axle spacers, spaces for the caliper or a custom made spacer for your rotor, and a different front fender or re-do the mounts on your existing fender. You may have to change the bearings in your wheel.
A new front wheel for a wide frontend softail may simplify the install and do away with the need for the different spacers. This too depends on what Dyna you have.
As I said, no personal knowledge or expertise offered here, just jack-leg assumptions. You are going to have to dig deep in your pockets to do this.
