are the tank emblems on a 09 streetbob on with just 2 sided tape? After seeing some of the bikes on here w/out emblems ide like to remove mine. its a lot cleaner look to me. any tips on removal.?
Get a heat gun and slowly warm them.........they will lift BUT !!!
Carefull what you use to try and lift them with you can easily scratch the tank..
I just used a teflon stick to pry at it
Not sure if this is the same...but had a chrome wannabe (aluminum) factory piece that went down the middle of the tank on my 1200 sportster custom.....it was on with 2 sided tape....read to use dental floss....well mine kept breaking, so took some fireline fishing line and just slowly worked it down the length and it cut through the tape and it was off.....real slick and no worries about heat...then just took some Goo Gone and got the remnants off and gave it a polish....not much to it...hope this might help and my assumption is the side plates would be the same tape....good luck
all you have to do is pull off the emblem, it is stuck on with 2 sided tape. then get a towell and wrap it around your thumb and slowley work it off by pressing and pushing the left over tape off. i have an 07 bob that I did it on. I tried everything, goop off, paint thinner, gas. you have to just work it off
Heat gun is a bad idea; they get too hot. Stick with the hair dryer.
WD-40 will help get residual tape off of your tank once the emblem is off. And like the guy above, I used some good fishing line to work behind the piece after I got it hot.
