Ok, it's paint or motor time. Considering a 103 or 110 job. Just curious about the approximate cost going from a stock 88 with a (PCIII and Big Sucker). There are a few indy shops in the Dallas area. I thought I'd get info from the experienced masses here before I call them.
Well, if you have an 88, then either way, you've got to stroke it. So, 1500 for a good crank. Then add the 250 or so for the Timken bearing. Now, since you've got it tore down that much, you might as well got 110 and have the cases bored too, there's another 250 or so. Now throw roughtly 3K in parts on top of that, depending on how radical you want to go, and you'll be all set! But, if I had to guess, I'd say 5-7K would be a good estimate for what you want.
My advise on indy's, or any other shop for that matter, is to just talk to them. Ask lots of questions and get a feel for them. Some of them come off better than others, that's how I judged my builder.
With that much money being thrown at it, I would buy a new engine, and try to sell the old on privately. I included a couple of links to what I found. Hope it helps you make up your mind.
