Has anyone put 1.25 inch bars on a 2008 or newer Street Bob with the integrated risers? I ordered a set of 16 inch Wild1 Chubby apes and they came in today. First thing I did was to mount them on the bike to see how they'd look. I can't even tighten the risers down because the bars hit on the tops of the forks. Just in eyeballing it, I don't even know if I will have enough clearance even if I loosen the triples and drop the forks down.
I've read from others on these threads that they have done it so I didn't think it would be any big shakes. I thought worst case scenario was loosening the triples and lowering the forks, but I don't think that will even do it. Anyone have any other ideas? Going to be crushed if my bars finally show up for a winter project and I find out I can't use them!
Ok, I haven't done it yet (sorry, busy weekend), but by taking measurements, lowering the forks as much as I dare isn't going to cut it -- the bars will still hit the tops of the forks. Anyone have any other bright ideas that I am just not thinking of?
Please don't tell me 1.25 inch bars are simply out of the question with the new integrated risers!
I've read on here (can't remember who) that others have put 1.25 inch bars on a Bob with the integrated risers. Then there are those who swear that by loosening the triples and dropping the forks, it can be done.
Mine is a "standard" straight from the factory 2008 FXDBi and I am telling you, even lowering the forks as much as humanly possible isn't going to cut it!
I just bought a whole 07 front end for it, forks, trees, etc... so I wouldn't have that problem. Otherwise you can buy a top triple clamp from an 06-07 dyna, and it won't have the integrated risers, but the clamps won't match exactly... plus, just the top clamp is like $240 in the HD catalog or something... and $220 at chicago... I bought a whole new 07 dyna front end, powdercoated black for $400 from a member on here... what a deal... GL man
