Default dealer maintenance

06 fxdwgi hey y'all, had the recall performed at 1000 mile. got the bike back and the primary drain plug was half way out, the crankcase oil was overfilled by half a pint. dealer service sold me 3qts (on the invoice) but the owners manual says it takes 2.5 ....also on the harley website on the specs page it says 3 qts. there is a discrepancy there. all i am saying is that dont think the sled is 100 percent ready to go down the road until you give it a thorough once over. the harley tax doenst guarantee a thing. oh yeah... discovered tranny fluid leaking today... back she goes.

Dude...I had mine done, and there were a couple things that pissed me off...few small bolts left loose...nothing major, but enough to get me worried. I ended up going over the whole bike just to make sure nothing else was loose. There's no excuse for that...especially considering you pay a couple hundred bucks for a 1000 mile service...and we all know that most of that is just quick inspection. I let the dealer know of my dissatisfaction...we'll see how they do on the next service. If it sucks, I'm outta there.

I think it might be almost three quarts with the oil filter, that's what I put in, then sucked some out, then put it back in, after realizing that your "not" suppose to screw the cap in to check the level.
When I bought my bike, a few miles from the dealer the engine light came on, when I got it home I posted on this sight on how to display the diagnostic codes."Link" then started going through the bike and found pigtails installed on the battery for a Battery Tender with loose connections, and a broken connector that got crushed between the seat and the frame. Which I assume happened at the dealer when the pigtails were put on. So I used a ty-wrap to hold the connector together and ordered a new connector out of my own pocket, and will be doing all work on my bike myself. I've been down this road before with warranty work with car dealerships and found its better to do the work your self.

Guys, According to the service manual, 3 quarts if the engine is dry (right after a rebuild) - 2.5 quarts wet (normal oil change). I used 2.5 and the oil is right at the full mark...

Ride safe

zimfxdl,
I was set on getting Two-tone deep cobalt and brilliant silver, until I went to a local dealer that had a Sportster outside by the front door. I noticed out of the corner of my eye as I was walking by it, it was changing color. This is a unique color and I'm real happy with this choice I made, no regrets.
I'm looking to upgrade the intake and exhaust, so I stopped at a local dealer and sat out front on a bench listening to other peoples exhaust systems and noticed people walking past my bike, stop in their tracks, walk back and take a second look, weaving their body's back and forth and up and down looking at the paint, exact same thing I did the first time I saw this paint. Funny thing is that where ever I go, I get the same question even from dealers........"Is that a factory color?"
How did you find out that you have one of six? I would also like to know the production numbers of the Low Rider in Dragonfly Green.
Here's some photos in different lighting:
