Had the regular on my sportie...then got the touring windshield on my dyna...noticeable difference on short jaunts...bought the dyna late in year so it did not tour any longer than a 50 mile jaunt so do not want to make a full judgement yet....
As stated above...I think without the batwing we might always buffet...I was wondering about chrome lowers on another thread - as I notice depending where my feet are, there is a great deal of wind difference.....

Different good or different bad? I also had the regular QD on my Sportster, so I have a good idea of how that went.
I was against windshields also, but I got sick of eating bugs and don't like full faces. I got the standard! Had some buffeting then I tilted the windshield forward at the QD alans about a half inch and it went away. The HD QDs are great and very easy to put on and take off!
I bought one for the sporty I purchased last summer. I got so used to it I never removed it. I did trade the sporty for a Fat Bob back in January. I bought a QD windshield for it the day I purchased the bike. I've never taken it off either. Yes there is a little buffeting, but I prefer to have the windshield on versus not.
