After trading my XL1200L Sportster in on my new Super Glide I am finding out that I am having a hard time getting used to it leaning over as far as it does while setting on jiffy stand. Knowing that the bike is heavier and leaning over as much as it does, I have to say that the thought of it tilting over is sometimes on my mind. While parked in my garage, I have a piece of 3/4 plywood under the jiffy stand. It gives me better piece of mind. My riding buddies tell me I have nothing to worry about. I was just wondering if anyone else after moving up from a Sportster has had this issue? Thanks.
A quick tip , do not start or leave the bike running while on the 3/4 plywood.
The vibration - movement of the engine will cause it to slip from the wood.
It happened to me while my back was turned - heart was in my mouth for a split second as the bike was slightly out of reach.
Luckily it settled back on the tarmac upright. Phew !!
If it can ride across Puget Sound on a ferry it will sit in your garage. As a friend of mine said "probably the single strongest piece of steel known to man".
Thanks fellows for the comments. You have eased my mind. No Bobber Jay, I never run the bike while it is on the plywood. I know that I just have to get used to it leaning much more than the Sportster. Again, I thank you.
