Sorry, not to hi jack the thread, but what if you only have a s/e 1 with no pipes. Do you still need a dl or remap etc... Had it on for about 80 miles seems to run fine, but I am new to riding soo....................................
ok look guys its running rich! The plugs show it and so does the throttle body the butterfly is caked with soot also when i let off the throttle from normal riding like to come to a stop the bike will almost die but then as i sit with clutch in it will slowly idle back up also lay on it and black smoke will puff out the exhaust when i got the bike it already had the SE a/c and the thunderheader also it came from a HD dealership so i would assume it has had a stage 1 comp mod, now i have changed the exhaust i took the 2in1 off for a couple months and ran V7h straightshots now have the 2in1 back on is it poss the comp has forgot the stage 1 because of the exhaust change? also, is the PCIII easy to install? or is there alot more to it than the Fuelpak?
Thanks again
Paul
The coating on the Throttle body and butterfly wouldn't be an indication of running rich. It is more than likely due to oil getting up through the breathers and gumming up the intake. I beleive MuddPuddle put together a catch can to prevent this so you might want to check with him on that.
With an 04 I guessing you have a good bit of miles on it. If it were me, I would run a can of seafoam through the fuel system and intake track to clean it out, then put in some new plugs and see how it runs for a while before investing in a tuner. The seafoam will clean the gum out of the intake, and the carbon out of the combustion chambers, which may solve some of your problems. I run it through all my vehicles at least once a year.
