Default Problem - Windshield and front turn signals

I originally posted this over in the General Chat, and got some good input, (thanks guys), but figured I might get more thoughts here as well, since my bike is a Dyna. So here goes ........

My hubby is installing a Memphis Shades ( a "FAT" model) windshield on my 2008 Street Bob. He says it won't work unless he moves the front turning signals down onto my front fork because the way it is now my front turn signals are hidden by the shield - specifically by the cross bar on the shield. I had this problem on my Nightster and that's what he did, but I am wondering - for those of you who ride with a windshield, do any of you ride with your turn signals behind your windshield, or have you moved them? I don't think it's a big deal. He does. What do YOU all think?

He is also thinking this shield is going to be too tall for me (it's an old one of his), and so if I have to buy a new one that's lower, I suppose I could buy a "SLIM", (if that would even make any difference in regard to the signals) but I don't really want to do that because I'm afraid I'll get more buffetting. Before I go buying anything new, if it's necessary, I figure'd I'd post here for some input.

Help?? Comments? Thanks.

You don't want to do anything that is going lessen your visibility on the road. Ergo, you do not want your signals (which are also running lights) behind the shield.

You can use the mount for the signal on the clutch side of the bars to relocate signals to the lower tree. You will need to buy another of these mounts, called the ball mount. They run about $7.00 from the dealer. There are some details as to how to do this in the "Under Fifty Bucks" thread at the top of the page. You may like the lower signals as they won't have the same amount of glare off the shield as they would mounted on the bars.

If the windshield is too tall, a search will produce information folks have posted about cutting shield down in height and size. This may be an option for you to save the cost of a new shield.

I have a Memphis Slim windscreen on my Street Bob. It doesn't seem to block the turn signals, from my point of view.

I relocated mine due to the glare the turn signals put on the windshield while riding at night. I also moved the headlight out a lil bit because that was also behind the windshield and put out some glare.

Ya I would relocate them. You are not going to want glare on the shield at night. Many have also had glare issues with the headlight that can be fixed by adding a trim ring to it.

I rode with them on my bars Once at night. Then I moved em! They were flashing right off the shield and in my face. I also put a visor on the headlight.

I have a HD Compact, Quick Detachable windshield on my FXDC. No didn't interfere with turn signals at all.

I have a detachable HD windshield as well. Moved my turn signals down to the forks.... less glare. Also changed my headlight to a Fatboy model, sticks out past the windshield.

Moving the turn signals will be a good thing.
