I have a 2002 Dyna Superglide T-Sport with the stock exhaust. In my opinion it is abit on the quiet side for a Harley. HD sells muffler slip-ons for $229, advertised to improve the sound but not the loudness. Are these a good deal?
I am looking for more of the HD signature sound, but without being obnoxious.
I recommend a Vance&Hines Pro pipe, it gives out a deep sound without being too loud, definetly an improvement from what you got, and you'll also gain in the performance area from it being a 2into1.
Don't get thunderheaders if you don't want loud.............
Supertrapp makes some pipes that have disks that you can put in to increase the level of loudness, if I'm not mistaken. Or take SuperG's advice. Those pipes aren't THAT loud, but they've got some deep throaty sound to them.
I really don't think Thunderheaders are all that loud...I've seen Sportys with SE slipons that were a good bit louder while idling around town. Thunderheaders really bark when you lay on the throttle though.
The new SE slip on's aren't as "loud" as the SE II's they replace, Khrome Werkes makes some real nice sounding slip-ons. An aftermarket system would be a bunch lighter but cost a bunch more. I'd be sure the rear pipe (the upper muffler in a 2-2) went back to stock location and didn't end before the axle due to the bags; with "short" pipes more exhaust may hit the fabric saddlebags when cruising. Glad to see another FXDXT here.....
