The only damage to the rotor that I can see are that two of the holes for the screws are elongated. Doesn't appear to have damaged the magnets and I could probably reuse it but the enlongated holes would bother me. The stator is chewed up and a couple of the screws were broken/mauled. I had to remove a piece of a screw from the compensator with a center punch and a hammer. Working it very slowly tapping lightly I was able to back it out. The pictures are not the best as I took the with my Blackberry phone camera.
You may be able to check it by just removing the primary cover but I don't think so. If I could turn back the clock 5000 miles I would tear it apart and lock tight the screws. This could have been a lot worse if I were on the road away from home. Not buy the amount of damage just the inconvience of getting help farther away.
Well sh$# !!! Now im worried. Why the hell did harley use a two piece rotor???? Guess i will get me a service book and get busy. Thanks for the info. One more Q, I had my inner primary bearing replaced at 12k,so is it possible that the rotor could have been taken care of then under warranty? Can the holes for the screws be seen without pulling comp sprocket off? Ok it was two Q's.
I plan on tearing into the primary when I do my forwards and changing it out when money permits. Like jmpcoast said, maybe the guys that used aftermarket alternatives will chime in.
Here are a couple of pics taken before I took it apart. As you can see there is no way to see the screws without taking the chain and sprocket off.
As to the warranty, mine was up last July so I doubt if they would do anything and truthfully I would rather do the job myself. I just want good quality parts at a reasonable price as I do not want this to happen again.

I got mine apart today and it is the same as yours, all my bolts were still tight but i am going to order a new one piece roter tomarrow and not risk it. what a pile of crap!
They fixed mine free out of warranty locally. We should start a class action law suit. Seriously. HD has a welder repair version with no bolts. Search the web for 06 dyna stator failure.

Don't bother with the lock tite, just order the welded one peice. Another member on here (morepower) tried that & they backed out again! I got lucky on mine, when I took it apart 2 bolts were out & 1 on it's way out. Mine happened at 12,000 miles.
