After running with the SE compensator for two months I am sorry to say the rotor does NOT work with the '06 stator.
The new rotor, that comes with the SE compensator, is physically larger in diameter than the '06 rotor. The clearance between the rotor and stator is too great to properly operate the electrical system.
If you own an '06 Dyna and want to upgrade your two-piece rotor with the SE Compensator
you must buy an '07 stator for your electrical system to function properly.
I'm going to wait until I get the part on and verify the system is working properly before I put the # out there mud.
Since I am still in the process of determining if I got it right it's best not to lead anyone in the wrong direction if this still doesn't fix it.
I had this same problem, even after using red loctite. My cure was to bevel the rotor where it contacts the inner compensator and bolt it together, then TIG welding it out to flush. Then removing the bolts.Of course,I staggered the welds and took my time to avoid overheating.Worked perfect and cost 0$
Is there enough clearance that you could maybe replace the allen heads with hex bolts? If so you could saftey wire them to prevent them from backing out.
One of my brothers and i have 06 we heard about this trouble (garbage that it is not a recall) and we address the issue with harley and we ended up with new rotors. We installed them and i noticed their was a clearnce differance ( A fact of not having all the info from harley one of many times of leaving harley only to return and buy the OOOYA you need that to. My brothers and i tell them we would like to have threads on that bolt because if you don't say something your not going to get it.) Knowing the electro magnetic field would be decreased because of the gap is greater Between the rotor and stator SO when i started it right a way i noticed the alternator light was flickering yet at about 1800 RPM the light would go out. So to make it right and dependable the stator is a must also. And the screws in question phileps counter sink fine thread screws like #1 or #2 The rotor is heavy and when spinning on a Jumping up and down Harley engine i'm supprised it doesnt shear the screws off. Ok I'll get off my Soap Box
looks like I am going to try this rotor/stator repair myself. cant see giving someone else my hard earned cash for something I think I can do. if anyone has any tips I would be glad to hear from you.
