Mines mounted on the frame. The only reason I have it is so I can at least carry SOMETHING with me. Normally keep papers, koozie, pair of light gloves and sunscreen for my delicate face. If I know I'll be out after dark I roll up a long sleeve shirt and throw in it.
I made a fairly decent leather fork bag, but I may make another one to mount down on the chin. There is some pretty decent imitation leather, that would weather the conditions down there a lot better. Plus, mounting with a metal 'T' bracket on the chin is pretty easy.
Great idea HDDYNA 2006 - I have an extra bag from my RK that I'll try. I keep my papers in the bag but inside a baggie. I typically carry sunscreen and clear lens glasses in case I'm out too late.
thanks to you all for the comments and suggestions.
My tools are in my tool bag at the front bottom of the bike. But, they are in large, ziploc freezer bags so they do not get wet should water get into the leather tool bag. Tools are fine. Tool bag is held to the chin of the bike via four, 14" zip ties. It is useless to try to use the straps that come with the bags - they always come loose.
I bought my bike from a private seller who gave me his tool bag. It already has a saddle bag though. I was just wondering what the point of it is? Are there things you shouldnt put in the saddlebag that are best kept in the tool bag?
