I bought my bike from a private seller who gave me his tool bag. It already has a saddle bag though. I was just wondering what the point of it is? Are there things you shouldnt put in the saddlebag that are best kept in the tool bag?
With a tool bag you don't have worry about whether you have the tools if you have removable saddle bags and you don't have to dig through the clothes, tie-downs, kickstand puck, jump starter, or other travel stuff that goes in and out of the bags to get to the tools in the bottom of the bag.
I keep mine on the down tubes under the front engine mount. Keep a spare set of glasses, multi-tip screwdriver, spare fuses, zip ties, and electric tape in bags with the insurance and registration. Enough to get it to limp to the next town with minor stuff I can do on the side of the road.
