My girlfriend complained as soon as I fitted a lowrider seat to my bob..was ok with the thick bolt on passenger seat from Harley for the Bob but looks so fuuuuuugly! So now she's got an air cushion(Airhawk, you guys heard of it?)to rest her cheeks on and totaly isolates the painfull vibes on long trips...think the rear fender mount struts act like a tuning fork and thats why the rider doesnt get the same vibes...
LOL - we actually have airhawk pads from the Sportie, but haven't put them on the Dyna yet. Will have to do that.
It is the sound dynamics of your pipes for sure. I just swaped out my SEII baloney side cuts (sig pic) for the SEII slash down cuts and the difference is huge. The side cuts were resonating in my helmet a lot and the slash downs don't resonate at all. Same mufflers.
Hard to believe but true.
You could always get a solo seat on ebay and one of the t-shirts that says "if you can read this the bitch fell off"
I had a similar problem after I installed Slip-ons, Stage I and SERT. My issue turned out to be hose clamp rubbing a part of the frame. However, it still not quite as smooth as stock, particularly in the foot pegs. If I took the time, I bet I could improve the vibes even more.
I wouldn't be too quick to blame the pipes. I had a 1200C last year and added Short Shots and had NO additional vibrations...until 2 weeks later when I added a Heavy Breather, PCIII and had the 1K service done. it was AT THAT MOMENT that my Sporty developed a Vibration problem. I could feel it in the Pegs and the ol' lady could feel it also.
NOW I ride an FXDL with SHORT SHOTS and added a stage 1 and notice NO additional Vibration. I asked the Ol' lady and she said THIS BIKE has not increased in vibration since the Short Shots OR Stage 1. Weird.
My 1K service is coming up and if I develop a vibration at that point I'll be PISSED!
I had a bad vibration after i installed my Bassani 2:1 Road Rage. I did not follow the tightening sequence outline or torque specs in the service manual. Over tightening these nuts can cause a big vibration issue. Proper Sequence is just as important as the correct torque.
I loosened all flange nuts. Tighten everything according to the sequence and specs in the service manual and the vibration issue seems to be much better.
Now if I can just keep the flange nuts from loosening up. I have to check them prior to each ride.
PS...Be advised Torque specs for these nuts are Inch/lbs NOT Foot/lbs.
