Thanks for the advice Joe! You know, we all just try to be a little different than the next guy. It's just that that FXR from the Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man movie always stuck out to me. If I do it, want to go with more of a brushed look. Then just like the movie, hand paint "Harley Davidson" on the side in the old orange color with yellow and black highlights to make it pop. Hell, I'd even go as far as to paint the "dead man's hand" on there like they did --aces and eights.
But that's a great idea on the powder coat. My first thought was just to spray it with clear, but I think the powder would be much more durable. So far I have put on 11 inch Progressive shocks, LePera bare bones seat, and 16 inch apes. In the next week or two I will get the intake, pipes and tuner. As I am from Minnesota with a far too short riding season as is, it will probably be ridden like that for the summer and then I will take it apart again and strip it when it gets too cold to ride. Would like to do it all bang, bang, bang, but I don't dare miss out on a single day of an already too short riding season.
i picked my color... SICK! not at all what i had shown here... ill post pictures after i have it done... be ready for BRIGHT and BLING!!! it will def stand out in a crowd!
here she is... this is what i am shooting my HD in... my buddy sean (the powderpro) shot this...
it is based with a chrome, then dormant candy green, then 150% glass clear... looks INSANE!!!!
no this blue was the best! it is explosion silver shot wiht dorment blue (another by Sean)
nice part about it... since i am doing the powder i know it will be done right... so if i want to change the color on them i just need to scuff and lay new powder... easy!
i am going to start the paint as soon as i finish up my full swoop rear fender (taking two st bob fenders and welding them together to make 1 full fender and 1 bobbed fender... that way i can change my fenders just by undoing 4 bolts... going to be sick!
Now THAT blue is just wicked. Love that vintage old school blue flake look. Very nice man. Definitely can't wait to see how it looks on a blacked out bike! Hurry up and get it done!!
Oh, and its about time you started your winter mods on your Bob.. I was getting kinda worried there!
