I know the stock rear wheel on a 07 WG is 17 x 4.5 inches. I am looking at custom wheels and notice most are 17 x 5.5 inches. Does any one know if the 5.5 inch rear wheel will fit the 07 wide glide without doing any modifications, or is my only option putting the Duece rear wheel that HD is stating as the only rear wheel that they offer for the 07 wg.
Are you currently riding an 07 WG? My first thought is to take a tape measure and see what type of clearance you have. With only wanting to go an inch wider, you may be able to squeeze it in there without too much hassle. If I can find a minute and my tape measure (g/f has a 20yo boy who can't remember crap and he's always getting into the toolbox...long story), I'll see what kind of clearances there are as I have the same yr/model.

You will need spacers for the 5.5 to fit the 07 WG. It will offset the tire. Their are several threads about this.
I have a 5.5x18 rear wheel in my 06 WG. All I had to do was cut the drive side axle spacer down a bit. I bought a new spacer form the stealer and had it cut at a local shop. It bolted right up and the whole deal cost me less than $20 (spacer & cutting).
By contrast, the same stealer wanted me to pony up $1,200 TO START and they would do the "customizing" for me. That was their price and I already had my own wheel, rotor, and pulley. Idiots.
I would roll the new wheel into place with the rotor in the caliper and the axle in. Then measure the gap on the drive side. It could vary depending on the hub width. Buy a spacer for $8.00 and cut it to your measurement. You can always shim the pulley bolts if you need to push it out. Mine bolted right up. Good luck!!
