The engine guard for the older model Dynas with floorboards fit perfectly. And it doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. I used Grade 8 socket head bolts instead of the hex head ones that came with it. That way I could use the chrome beauty caps to make a cleaner looking install.
Looks great. I ordered a guard Tuesday and it should arrive any day now. This is my first DIY mod to my new bike. I like your idea on the fasteners.
I ordered the guard from my home town dealer, Mid America Harley in Columbia, MO. Here in NM where I am working the nearest dealers are Colvis, NM, Lubbock and Odessa Tx. Each over a hundred miles away over arrow straight flat roads through the high desert scrub brush, mesquite and stinky oil wells.

I received my engine guard today from my Harley dealer back home. It is attached at the lower end using these obnoxious U bolts. Your's is bolted on using nice bolts. Is your's a Harley part, or what.

thanks,
Yes, it's a Harley guard. But look closely at my bike. I installed the footboards from the FXDP model, and this is the engine guard for Dynas with footboards. It attaches to the forward footboard mounts and doesn't use U bolts.
