I'm 6'2" and couldn't stand where the stock handlebars put my hands on the 09 Super Glide so I measured a dozen times and went for a change. It worked out perfectly. No new cables, no cables stretched, and don't need to relocate the turn signals. Much more comfortable for me with my 35" sleeve reach. Arms slightly bent, relaxed seating with no need to lean forward. Here's what I found worked for me. Added 3.5" chubby chrome RISERS which keeps the speedometer at the right stock angle and plenty low for good forward vision. Then topped off with XLX/fxr1000 handlebars pn 56085-83T. If you want the black bars for the FXR it's the same PN only ends in A instead of T.
Thanks! I'm just glad everything fit without a lot of cost or cussin'. All for 1 1/2 hours time and under $150 bucks. I guess 200 if ya add in the price if the new stealth grips. But I heated the old bars up with a 1200 watt hair dryer and salvaged the old grips anyway. Get the bars nearly too hot to touch and the old glue loosens right up. I actually got the idea on the sporty bars off this forum, but I added the risers to put them in the right place for me.

Thanks for the compliments guys and I see the lay down plate mounts on both your bikes. I think that'll have be my next project. The stock one stickin' straight up on mine just looks ugly in comparison. Oh well more donations to the parts suppliers. Gotta do our part for stimulating the economy I guess. Got a short ride in today but real chilly and 35 mph winds. Supposed to snow again tomorrow. Where the heck is spring when ya need it?
