I finally came to the conclusion that the exhaust I want, " V&H Big Radius", wont be available when my bike arrives in a few weeks. So, I decided to look for an inexpensive set of slip on mufflers until later in the year when I can find the Big Radius in stock at a few of the affordable mail order sites. I locoated a set of Dyna Power Chrome slip on mufflers that will fit my 06 FXDI, for only $117 shipped. I havent heard of that brand before but they are supposed to be a more free flowing, direct bolt on replacement for the factory exhaust. I am mainly getting them for the improved sound over the "honda sounding" stock mufflers. Also,.... Can I just add them for now without doing one of the downloads? If so, I will just hold off on the A/C for when I can get my Big Radius.
you can get by with that, but consider your cost. You pay $177 now for slip-ons and then $550 later for big radius. Why not go to V&H and get them now for $675???? I rode stock until I found what I really wanted. If I were going with temporary slipons I might try ebay for a set with just a few hundred miles on them.
Well I had though of ebay as well for a good used set of slipons but I just figured $117.00 would be pretty hard to beat. Im just courious as to weather the download will be necessary right now or not with just the slipons.
That is what a friend who works at an indy. suggested I buy, but they were not in stock and would have taken weeks to get. He said they have a nice sound to them and a good price.
So I got Cycle Shack slip-ons instead, they were more expensive, $145 vs. $95 for the dynopwer (yes he was giving me a deal) but I got them right away. I'm happy with the Cycle Shack tappered.
If you don't like them you could sell them on Ebay and your not out much $.
Well the only place that I could find that had them in stock was J&P cycles and after s&h and minus a 10.00 coupon I paid $117.48. They were out of the slash cut but had the tapereed in stock so I ordered a set of them. I'm sure they will sound better than the factory set anyway.
I am assuming that it wont be nessary to worry about the EFI download if I just add the slipons. Is this correct? Because I prefered to just wait until I get the Big Radius and a new EFI control unit preferably SERT or maybe a PCIII.
