Have a 2006 Dyna I want to put Vance & Hines straights-shots on, but they are not being made by V/H at this time. They have a V/H slip on ready in June or I like the look of the Cobra Dragster Pipes.
I have had V/H pipes on several other Harleys but have not used the Cobra Products.
Has anyone had Cobra pipes on their bikes, how is there product and is the sound close to V/H?
I had cobra pipes on my Yamaha vstar 1100 and they were great. They looked fantastic and sounded great. I know most harley guys buy V&H...I'm not sure why. I'm only a HD guy since Oct 05 and have SE slip ons...which work fine for me. As far as I've seen, the majority of pipes put on HDs are V&H though. So maybe the veteran HD guys can explain (I guess it's just that V&H have a solid reputation) Personally, I'd probably go with the Cobras..just to be different. They're definitely a quality product. I'm sure they're no better (or worse) than V&H though. Either way you go, you can't go wrong.
My brother and I both had V&H Straightshots on our Suzuki Volusias...nice quality exhaust system.
When we got HDs, I put the muffler bodies on his bike and it blended right in with the headers. The stock mounting bracket required 2 holes to be drilled since the mounting bolts were a little closer on the V&H mufflers.
I welded in a small baffle into the stock V&H baffle and it sounds pretty good. It's got some noise, but not obnoxiously loud that everyone thinks you're an *******.
