Like the other have said, just do it man. It's your ride, if you don't like how it turns out, re-do it until you do like it. Like you said, worst case, you have to shell out for powder coating at a later date.

WTF chop it up and paint it dude. everyone said what the **** are you doin when i started cuttin mine up. gotta tell ya i like it a thousand times better and i take pride that i did it myself. make yourself happy.

its just my local shop, they are an authorized harley dealer and can do warranty work and all but are not a big time dealer like the bigger cities, they just happened to have a wrinkle derby cover in teh back that they got off a bike, and mine came with a nice shiny chrome one with flames that said harley davidson on it and i just like the wrinkle better, so its just really a favor more than anything, i dont know if a large dealer would do that or not

thanks everyone for the responses, i think im gonna go for it, screw what they think, its mine and its gonna look more like i always wanted it to, so i talked to my old boss who is also a good friend and he is gonna let me use his warehouse tomorrow if i need to and prob come help, so i might be shooting the wheels and stripping the blinkers and strut cover tomorrow, if i do ill post pics of the progress, again thanks for the reassurance
