Please take a look at these plugs....does this indicate a rich condition? I recently installed a PCIII with a map for SE A/C kit and SE Pro II slip ons and decided to check the condition of my plugs today.
The first one looks ok, the second does look a bit rich. What's the mileage since the last change? Since the mods? That would help to diagnose. It's always better to run a little rich than a little lean, but if that's only a few thousand miles I'd say it's too rich.
Both pics are the same plug. One just had a little more light. I installed the power commander probably about 500 miles ago. Those plugs have been in for a couple thousand miles or more. They may have looked that way before the Power Commander install. I'm really not sure. I should get a new set of plugs and run it just to see how they look with the PCIII. I'm just trying to get an idea of whether the PCIII map is right or not.
Which one is it? Tan or Black? If that is the same plug then take a pic in natural light without a flash and get back to us. The two pics contradict each other.
CB
the white area should be white or light tan. Too dark will indicate too rich. However this does not mean the entire RPM range is rich. A dyno run should be able to tell you just what is a miss and where adjustments need to be made(if any). Every bike needs to be tuned a little different. Canned maps may work fine for many, however, often they are not ideal. Looking at a plug can not tell you exactly what is incorrect.
I had seen this site someone else had posted on here about spark plugs it tells you how the plugs should looks and gives pictures...I have that saved now so whenever i check my plugs ill go to that page
