Default Running fine yesterday... Terrible today...

Just a heads up for anyone out there as this happened to me this weekend and now that it's over I'm embarrased to say how long it took me to troubleshoot.

The weather was finally nice this weekend in the Cleveland area so I headed out for a ride on Saturday. I didn't make it more than 1/4 mile and my bike started missing really bad. Like my quad used to when I fouled one of my plugs out. I turn around.. No big deal as I have some extra plugs at the house. Replace them and no improvement. I then thought maybe there was some water in the gas so I put in some dry gas. That also didn't help. At this point my kids grabbed me and I didn't get back to the bike for a few hours.

I then started taking things apart and troubleshooting. At this point my key didn't turn anything on. I thought maybe a dead battery but that didn't explain the symptoms from earlier and the battery is only 8 months old and was on a tender all winter. I checked with a volt meter and was only getting 7 volts when I plugged into my tender dongle. I then touched the positive one the battery and the negative on the battery and got 12 volts.. When I moved the negative to a piece of the frame it went back to 5-7. Finally at this point I found the issue. After lowering the battery and tightening up both battery bolts the bike now runs properly again.. Well it's still marking it's damn spot with that oil but that's another thread.

A stupid question to end this post... Would it be safe to put a drop of lock-tight on that bolt to prevent this in the future?

It's happened to a few folks on here. I don't think a drop of Blue would hurt a thing.

I put blue Loctite on my battery bolts, hasn't hurt anything and keeps um good and tight.
