Default Battery just died

I rode to work this morning and noticed the lights dimming every once in a while. i got to formation (military) did some physical training, and when i went to start it it started hard. i knew the battery but was hoping it would hold out till after work. i went to the gym and showered, it started fine. I went to put gas in it and after that it was toast. The bad thing is, my battery light never once came on. the battery just seem to go. has anyone had this happen? it sat being barley ridden for a year and i think that is what did it. Then the dealership said that the screwdriver set they sell would fit the bolt on the battery. they need to check again. i had to ask the CPS guys for one that fit. When i installed the new battery, i still had nothing. The CPS guys tried to give me a push and once they did, the power came on. confused on that one.

What year bike? Do you use a smart battery tender when you are gone for long lengths of time? Do you put anything in the gas prior to storage (stabil)? Have you check all connections, i.e. battery , starter, main fuse connections for security or corrosion? I hate saying the word neglect, but I'm sure that's not it. Thanks for your service.

I just went through something similar last weekend. I tried to start the bike and it wouldn't start. Moved the bike and it started no problem. Someone on here suggested I remove the negative cable from the battery and retighten it. I also checked the red on the starter as well as the negative on the frame. Believe it or not when I took the negative off the battery and reconnected it it has been working fine. Only Harley would use a special size screwdriver to tighten the battery cables. Just make sure they are tight.
