Hi guys,
At this point I am looking for some thoughts or to see if anyone has experienced this.
I am having trouble starting the bike so I bought a new battery and keep it on a tender. Yesterday I took the bike off the tender (which indicated the battery was fully charged) and I turned the key to the on position and turned the bike on. It went through the injector test and the engine light went off, I attempted to start the bike and it went completely dead. I turned off the key restarted and it ran no problems. I do notice that even with the new battery it almost seems like it doesn't want to turn over. It does start but it almost seems like the battery is dead. I checked the battery connections and they are tight. I was riding home after my ride yesterday and I lost power where the vehicle is sputtering sometimes it stalls and sometimes it cuts out then kicks back in. I haven't had a chance to check the diagnostic codes. I have searched this forum but I haven't found anyone having the same problem. I did get gas yesterday morning. I am wondering if I got bad gas or maybe it is the engine ground might be an issue. I am just looking for some direction. I plan on using some seafoam to clean out the injectors and it will dry any water in the gas. I will check codes and hope this works. I am concerned that this could be my HD factory alarm system causing this. I will take it step by step. Figures just after the warranty is up.
Even though the battery connections seem tight, remove them both completely and retighten them. I had the same problem the other day, I completely removed the Neg. cable and reinstalled and now everything is fine.
I would also check the battery cables at the battery terminals as stated above, but I would also check the cables at the other end where the positive connects to the starter and the ground connects to the frame.
Yeah,
I was a little panicked because I had already checked the battery cables but I followed the advice and this just proves how great and helpful everyone on this forum is.
