I look through my windshield............."SHIELD". That is what I use it for...to keep bugs and whatever else the road throws at me, off of me!!!! Why have one on if you are not going to use it????
If you like bugs in your teeth it is only because you haven't experienced then Love-Bug season in the South, bet you would buy a shield then :-)...The smell like cucumbers but don't taste the same.
I got the QD windshield with the essentials kit. It was too high for me.. when it was on (lowest on the forks), it was at such a height that I was looking through and over... was annoying as hell. The constant on / off distortion was a headache.
I cut 2" off it and at the lowest placement, it's just above my chin and feels perfect.
The wind isn't an issue because the wave of air hitting the sheild causes it to flow over my head... and takes the bugs with it.
A big rock may be a different story though.

+1 The whole purpose for me was to keep these farm bugs off of me here in potato land!! I don't mind a few bugs, but out here my 64 mile round trip to work you can barely see through the windshield by the time I pull into the garage at the end of the day. Before I got the windshield I was wearing a full face and it was worse. I'd have to clean the full face when I got to work and when I got home. Plus my jacket was nasty!
