Default stator

I have a 2006 Super Glide Custom,great bike,11,000 miles,no problems.Heard about the stators could become undone.Is there any way of checking them or is it worth the money,$410.00,to have it replaced to a upgraded one.Thanks-Gary

There have been a ton of stator/rotor failures on the 06s. If you do a search, you will find an abundance of information to help you decide if the expense is justified or not.

I had my primary apart last summer to fix a leak. While I had the stator off the bike I checked the bolts and all were tight. I put the primary back together with the same sator. My feeling are if it's aint broke don't fix it. You can end up getting paranoid by reading forums, most people will only get on the computer and post something if it wrong/broken. If it gives you piece of mind to swap stators than you better do it, otherwise just ride.

Its not the stator that is the problem,its the rotor that comes apart. It is a two piece unit held together with 8 small bolts. You can fis this issue yourself by tack welding the bolt heads so they cant come loose and it will only cost you a new gasket and a qt of oil.
