I plan to do the SE A/C and re-program even if I don't change the exhaust. According to Harley's dyno chart the SE A/C/re-program significantly increases both TQ and HP. Now the other decision is whether to go with the A/C that goes in the stock cleaner, or spend twice as much for the heavy breather.
I prefer to rely on bright lights, loud horns and a "their out to get me" attitude to protect myself. Remember, little old ladies can't hear and mom's in minivans not only have a cell phone in their ear but have some little brat screaming in the back seat. My Triumph Daytona, however, did sound good with a six inch muffler.
Are there any slip-ons that produce power without being significantly louder then stock? Thanks to responses about the V and H straight shot slip-ons I know that they will be to loud for my use. We ride our bikes in places that I don't like to make to much noise, like National Parks etc. Would like to find a set of slip ons that make more power then stock but aren't so loud that they would be annoying to other people in the parks. Unfortunately, the new H-D SE slip-ons aren't any better then stock at making power, according to H-D's own dyno chart, and I'm to cheap to buy a complete system. Thanks.
What about the Supertrapp internal disc slip-ons? They are tunable come in a stock tapered design and have a few different end caps available. I saw a set on ebay for 149.00 new, have not looked recently though. I was considering a set, but I have not heard any feedback on them from anyone?
Just a thought,

have you tried the rush slip ons? i had them on my 08 fxdc and sound was deep and not loud at all with the 1.75 baffles. you can also get 1.5 baffles in them too. i loved the sound just wanted louder myself..... but i think these would suit you just fine and also add a lil power. i would personally check them out.
I have a set of D&D slip-ons that I love. The dyna charts I read on them showed impressive increases and they sound great. Low RPM's are quiet and they open up at higher RPM's. I can slip out of my neighborhood without upsetting anyone and rip down the road screaming when I am in the sticks if I want. My local dealer parts guy turned me on to them and I am glad he did. Before that, I had never even heard of them.
My Rush are fairly loud , but sound good. I'm not sure how much power they added since I also have the Stage I and SERT. The chrome is okay. There's a some popping on deceleration, which from what a service tech told me, is normal for Rush slip-ons.
Check out the cycleshack pythons. I get a real nice, low sound that only gets loud when I really get on the throttle. Got a noticeable bump in power after download. I dont remember them being very expensive either.
