My 07 FXDC came with the mid controls. I installed the harley's davidson forward controls and removed the shaft through the primary drive by cutting it and using two chrome buttons from Ace hardware to plug the holes. I followed the many directions/advice provided on this forum which I thank you guys and gals for. Anyway I've ridden a year with no problems but now after every ride I'm losing oil from around the plug on the outside of the primary.
I thought I understood the "hole" through the primary drive case to be just a hollow shaft with no access to the actual inside of the primary drive. Is there a seal out with-in the shaft where it seats against the inner primary case? Can I just remove and then re-install the plug with high temp sealant and just let the oil build up in the hole? or do I have something more serious going on?
theres a gasket between the 2 cases... where the shaft went thru... with no shaft there to hold it in place sometimes they slip out.... i took my primary off and plugged the holes internally with freeze plugs from napa...
