Default Forward control kit

Does anyone know what the difference between the 96-05 kit and the 06-up kit. I what to know if you can install a 96-05 kit on a 06 SuperGlide. Any help would be great.

The 2005 and back are a straight bolt on set up. for the 2006 models, they changed the primary and you have to take off the outer primary among other parts to mess with the shifter shaft. It can be time consuming, many here have had the dealers do it before delivery, some have taken off the outer primary and sawed off the shifter shaft (not recommended on a new bike- possible warranty problems). I think the kits are basically the same hardware, the '06 kit has more parts and is much more involved to install.

Looks like the updated 06 kit does not require the removal of the inner primary. Uses the cap on the mid shaft.

That looks like the same kit I used on my '05, What's supposed to be so different with the '06's?

I'd like to install forward controls on my 2006 Low Rider.

Does the kit use the existing stock highway pegs as the foot peg, or does is have an additional peg?

Thanks,
Sammi

I have an '04 FXD that I had bought forwards for and my brother and I changed them to my '06 FXDCI the only thing that I had to dom was go to the stealer and buy the '06 shifter rod. The one from the foot shifter to the tranny arm.

Default RE: Forward control kit

I have an '06 Low Rider with engine guards.

The forward kit for '05 says not compatible with engine guard.

The forward kit for '06 doesn't mention compatibility (or lack thereof) with engine guards.

Has anybody here installed the '06 forward control kit on an '06 Low Rider with an engine guard?

Thanks,
Sammi
