1- Never soldered.

2- I'll give it a shot. (As an aside, turns out I don't own a torx big enough for the strut bolt.)

In process... Yes, I am a total epic fail at anything mechanical. About ready to go pay $75 for an hour of labor at a non-HD dealer here in town.

Otherwise, you may be hearing a story about a guy who soldered his seat to his handle bars! LOL
