Have used mids and forward controls with no shield or wrap on the TH. Only have burned my right boot on the pipe once.

Well if you burned your left boot either you are doing something wrong or something has gone very wrong with your pipes.

If you wrap them mud recommends cutting a little piece of heat shield and placing it where your heel goes to keep the heat wrap from melting your boot and to protect the heat wrap.

I used my oem heat shields to fab up two smaller heat shields for my TH. It cost nothing. The TH heat shields are just a tad over-priced no matter where I go.

I have wrap and heat shields... still burns the **** out of my right leg. Its absolutely ridiculous how hot these things get. BUT, I do have forward controls, and do wear shorts when riding a lot, so that could be a major factor.

Shorts while riding?!? Don't you know better? Go to your room to think about what you've done wrong.

Hey man when it's 90 degrees out and I'm stuck in DC traffic, shorts are the way to go.

Assuming I don't meet pavement, or have a run in with the fashion police.

I'm just pickin at ya man. No harm no foul but do you think it's any cooler here in the summer, 500 miles south? Plus I'm a hairy bastage. Remember, dress for the crash, not the ride..as I hop on my bike without a helmet. lol

hahahaha.. man, I would wear pants all the time if it didn't get so DAMN hot here in the summer. It was 93 degree's the other day and its not even summer yet. Its gunna be a hot one here this year. 100+ degree's with 80-90% humidity sucks.. especially having an air cooled big twin and sitting in traffic..
