Default Question on removing the rear fender.

I have a quick question. I am about to have the tins swapped out on my bike and I didn't know if the rear fender would come off without removing the rear wheel. I figured the swingarm would drop down to give enough room after the shocks were removed. If the wheel had to come off, I thought I might pick up a couple of other parts that I could put on at the same time.

You shouldn't have to remove the wheel or drop the swingarm down. Support the bike with a stand, remove seat, remove upper shock mounts, remove rear turn signals. Disconnect the electrical connector for the lights, and off the fender comes. Just don't drop the strut covers. That's how my '07 works anyway, can't imagine the '05 being any different.

I was getting new tires anyway, so my rear wheel came off first. For me, it made 2 other things really easy. 1.) There is a bolt in front of the rear tire that might be tough to get to. 2.) It sure made installing the wire harness and such a breeze.

no need to pull the tire, plenty of room. but if u took it off it would be alot easier to give a good cleaning. depends how much u like ur garage! lol
