I know that this may sound stupid, but any suggestions where else to attach a fork bag other than above the headlight? I took mine off since I am having my handlebars swapped out, and saw that from being above the headlight for only a month, it had marred the finish a bit..
I orginally had mine above the headlight, but like you after it marking up my risers and ruining the finish on my headlight I took it off.
I made a hard mount from a T-brace and mounted it under the headlight using the headlight mounting bolt. This made it very secure and also kept it from rubbing anything. I later moved it down on the frame using the same hard mount just bending it more to make it work.
Brace I used (I bent the short end 90 degrees, then cut a hole for the long end to go through the bag. I then uses to bolts to mount the brace to the bag.)
I'm looking at laying mine across the handlebar clamp right below the speedo.....since I'm getting the "Fork Bag Stereo" From Joe on here, I want it to be where I can adjust my MP3 player and kick back and listen to the tunes....
I will probably get another and put it down low over the front motor mount.

Use the brake line retainer bolt under the bottom tree to attach a rigid angle mount. The bag screws to that with a backing plate made of plastic stock inside. It's bulletproof and will not rattle, rub, or fall off.
