I have never mounted any bag to my handlebars. I've heard that they can affect the bike's handling.

Anyone have any experience with this kind of problem?

You can still mount it there. I had mine there for a while but it scuffs the tree. I moved it down by the voltage regulator.

I don't think a small one like the 8" tool bag would, but I could see where a monster bag could at highway speed with a crosswind. I have never noticed any difference with mine, other than that it blocks the wind coming through the trees and under the windscreen, cutting down on the buffeting.

I think I'm just gonna strap it to my sissy bar facing forward (resting on my seat) wrapping the straps around the bars of the sissy bar so it won't move around. Usually don't ride 2 up, so it'll do and not cause ant further scuffing.

If you mount it on the lower triple tree. You just wrap it around both tubes tightly, making a new hole in your strap, and the tree holds it from sliding down.

Ive also seen guys mount them on the left side of the bike on the rear swingarm. I think it looks pretty unique but you have to get down there to get stuff in and out of it. I mounted mine above my top triple tree to my riser extensions. Fits nice and easy to get stuff in and out...

I bought a sissy bar bay and used a longer strut bolt and attached it by the shock.

No problem with anything getting in the bag. Mine does zip shut and has a velcro flap that goes over the zipper though so that helps.

It really doesnt get that dirty down there unless you run down a wet road. I do keep anything I dont want wet in a ziploc bag but I did when it was on the forks as well. It was actually harder to keep clean on the forks because of bugs.
