Just like my name I am doing this for my dads FXSTSI. He is in Detroit recovering from prostate surgery and I am installing an HID kit to give him more lighting while riding at night. A surprise for him when he gets home. My problem is finding a place to put the ballasts. They are a little bit wider than a deck of cards and there are two of them. My initial thoughts were to put them inside the headlight nacelle but am afraid there may not be enough room. So I have decided to put them in a bag that will bolt to a mountingpadthat has a threaded holethat is at the top of the downtubesbehind the forks.
Now my question. Does anyone make a small bag that would mount to this spot?
Just took a peek inside the headlight housing expecting to find miles of wires. Much to my surprise its damn empty. So a simple bracket and mount the ballasts inside the headlight housing.
Did a quick search for HID here on the site and see that many folks haven't been to happy with the results. Of course the fact that Harley was charging (raping) folks for $500 bucks didn't help matters. This set up I have cost $89 but was bought with a group buy from the Apriliaforum.com guys. I'll post up pics with before/after shots of the headlight output and install pics. This is going to be a piece of cake compared to installing them on my Aprilia.
