THe Dyna Custom is the prime dyna now. All that chrome at 13K. lower the bike and you still save $1500 off the Low Rider.
That's the impression I get from reading this board for the past couple of years...the Super Glide Custom (along with the "dark" movement) killed the Lowrider. I'm sure it'll be back. To much name recognition to let it die for good.
Ok the speculation is the Low Rider is going away for 2010. While it may not be fact I was curious what people would like to see replace it in the Dyna family.
Dang, I have never wanted any bike other than a Low Rider. It fits me perfectly and the name is great. I guess I had better take care of mine so I can keep it forever.
Well the real story is that the MoCo realized that they had made a superior bike with the Lowrider and that guys who bought them were really the target audience of rugged hard core bikers who were in need of a true machine that they could live out their lifestyle on. Then they realized that they had put so much design quality into the Lowider that the owners wouldn't be trading them in right away because it was a marriage made in heaven. Then they realized that all the ***** poser wannabes didn't have the cash or the ***** to get a Lowrider and were buying the cheaper detuned Superglides with the Sportster suspension...so they have temporarily halted production of the Lowrider until the real bikers are ready for new ones.....
That is the God's truth about the Lowrider....
My dealer said the LowRider is gone. I told him (after buying an 01' and an 05') that, IMO, it was a crock of ****!! I'm short and the FXDL's fit me perfectly, plus I like the way they handle. I'm not going to knock any of the other Dyna's as I'm sure they fit the people that bought them but the Lowrider sure fit me.

To my knowledge, the Low Rider never got more power from the factory than a Super Glide. The Low Rider evolved from the Super Glide in 1977, when Willie G. gave the basic Super Glide more fork rake, relocated the foot pegs a bit, and added the "King & Queen" style seating positions. Style rules the world, but the engine was the same as the Super Glide engine. There was an FXRS model ("S" for Sport), but I don't believe it was any more powerful than any other Big Twin. It was up to the owner to add hotter cams, better heads, and all of the other wonders that have developed since 1903. Prove me wrong, children, prove me wrong.
