thunderheader install question
those with a thunderheader just wondering if there were any tricks or tips that anyone had to make it go smooth?i should get mine tommorow and im going to try to install it.
Yeah, make sure your in a good mood, and not stressed out about anything or else you'll probably end up breaking something.. LOL
Seriously though, the pipe is a very tight fit. Just have some patience, take your time, and definitely have someone to help you out. A second hand is always better. Install the mounting bracket first. Then, install the pipes to the bracket but don't tighten. Just get them on that way the end of the pipe won't weigh you down as you try to install the pipes to the cyclinders.. (kinda hard to explain.) but good luck man! Its really not that bad.. its just kind of a tight fit. Let us know how ya like them! And post up some pics for sure!

Installing my Thunderheader was probably one of my most frustrating projects yet. The tranny mounting bracket is a pain because it mounts on the clutch cover, so be prepared to drain or have fluid everywhere.
Adrian really said most of what I could...a 2nd hand is huge. I did it by myself, and trying to balance that big pipe while bolting it on was difficult. It is a VERY tight fit...especially trying to get the two headers around the motor and into place.
And there's no real method to getting the side clamp for the top header on....just find a way to crank it open, then bolt it down.

Don't forget to use masking tape on stuff that you don't want scratched-I also had to notch the front mount so that it would not stress the bolts that hold it (they will break off if they are stressed)-

I put one on my Night Train and it was a piece of cake, took a half hour tops.
A few weeks ago put one on my 1200R and that was a bit trickier, but not that hard. Just make sure you have someone over to help, an extra pair of hands is needed.
