86 FXWG Brake Light Problems

86 FXWG Brake Light Problems
Ive got an 86 FXWG -- and when I use the hand brake or foot brake it takes a second or two for the brake light to come on. Once it comes on - I can hit either the lever or pedal and it works pretty good. Then some times it will come on slow again.
I've checked the wiring from the wiring block back to the brake light - if i apply a positive charge to the brake light wire -- it lights instantly without issue.
is there some sort of a ballast or relay somewhere? where?
my wiring is TRASHED -- any thoughts on where to get a new harness and a new main wiring block?
