For seats that is. I'm now on my 4th seat - stock, SE Leather, Sundowner 2 up, and now a Mustang Vintage Solo w/ pass pillion. I know we get a lot of posts on this subject and it's a very subjective subject (which is a lot of subjects ).
I am extremely happy with the Mustang. Looks good and is very comfortable. Had the Screaming Eagle leather seat for most of the time and it was OK but a little too firm. The Sundowner was probably the most comfortable but was butt ugly (no pun intended and no offense to those that have one!). I also notice the Mustang makes it difficult to slouch (which is a good thing) - that was a problem for me with the SE seat. I got the thin passenger pillion which looks good and has more and better padding than the SE seat. Probably won't match the comfort of the Sundowner for the passenger but the wifey doesn't ride that often . Just thought i'd share for those of you contemplating a seat change.
I'll post a picture in a few days when i show off my other winter / spring mods. Will also be posting the stock and SE seats in the classified section next week when i have pictures.
Keep the shiny side up!
I have a sundowner 2-up for when my chick rides with me. I also rock a Mustang solo. The mustang, my first, is taking a bit of getting used to but so far I've ridden close to 75 miles non-stop before starting to feel a lil tingle in my butt. I've been told it takes a while to break the seat in. It wasn't new and I have no idea how many miles the original owner put on it or how big he was. I do like the fact that the mustang dropped me down and moved me back a bit. The sundowner, although comfy as hell, raised me up and forward just a bit too much.
I think what makes the sundowner so ugly is the wideness of the passenger area. It's just too huge. Could trim 1-2 inches off each side and have a more streamlined look, while retaining the comfort level.
I'm going to try out the p-pad with my chick soon. We'll see how she likes it.
Wide Vintage Solo user here. I have the seperate pillion pad for the wife also. I can't be happier with the seat. The wife wants me to turn her seat into a seat bolted to an Ultra Classic...
